Metropolis Technologies raises $1.6bn to fund expansion
Metropolis Technologies, a company applying artificial intelligence to real-world infrastructure, has raised USD 1.6bn through a mix of debt and equity to support its next growth phase.
The capitalisation includes a USD 1.1bn Term Loan B arranged by JPMorgan Chase Bank and a USD 500mn Series D funding round led by a fund managed by LionTree. The Series D values the company at about USD 5bn and saw participation from BDT & MSD Partners’ affiliated credit funds, DFJ, Eldridge Industries, Slow Ventures, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Tekne Capital and Vista.
The financing provides institutional capital to expand across new verticals and markets following recent acquisitions, including the 2024 take-private of SP+ and the 2025 purchase of AI biometrics specialist Oosto. Metropolis now processes more than USD 5bn in annual transaction volume across over 4,200 locations and adds more than one million new members monthly.
